Ash Wednesday

February 22, 2023

On Ash Wednesday the Christian community begins a spiritual journey known as Lent that begins forty days before Easter. On Ash Wednesday Christian congregations gather to worship and receive a sign of the cross marked with the ashes of the palms burned from the Palm Sunday processionals the year before. The ashes, and the theme of the worship service, is to remind all of us that we are frail, finite, human creatures. We were created from the dust of the earth, and we will one day return to the dust of the earth. As our funeral liturgies often use the scriptural reference at the grave – ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

On February 22, Trinity Presbyterian Church will gather in Mckinney Fellowship Hall for dinner at 5:45 pm, and move to the sanctuary for worship around 6:30 pm. We would love for you to join us for both dinner and worship. If you would like to come to dinner please make reservations using this link:  Make Dinner Reservations Here!
